Effect of Harvest Time on Quality Preservation of Cut Rose ¢¥Mary de Vor¢¥


Abstract
In order to investigate suitable harvesting time and bud stage, cut rose ¢¥Mary de Vor¢¥ was harvested at various flower opening stage and at different harvesting time such as 9:00 AM or 4:00 PM. Then their effects on flower quality during vaselife were determined. Flowers harvested at the 4:00 PM had higher flower quality than those harvested at the 9:00 AM during vaselife. Flowers harvested at stage 3 had better flower quality and higher total carbohydrate content than those at stage 1 during vaselife despite of harvesting time such as 9:00 AM or 4:00 PM. However, flowers were not significantly affected by harvesting time or harvesting stage in the development of bent neck. The cut rose ¢¥Mary de Vor¢¥ harvested at stage 3 and 4:00 PM had the best quality during vaselife.
